Short Trip to Pengalat

last saturday (26/12/09) my neighbour manan invite to join him at pengalat...
just with simple arrangement, wee go to Pengalat Besar...
after get some live bait at Kg Benoni, we started our mission by used manan boat...

COMPLOT TO BINTUKA

Just the simple report...
last Thursday (24/12/09) i take my leave just to join the Bintuka trip...
with 3 boat and 11 angler... let's RIOT.....

ini pula adalah siakap yang ku tewaskan di kelong di Bagan Lalang, Selangor...
dr malam ku buru, awal pagi dalam jam 7.30 baru siakap nie sudi menjamah umpan...

OZY POPPER

POPPING.... bila dgr jer ada yg sebut popping... aku mesti pasang telinga.. coz itu adalah teknik yg aku cukup minat.. setelah dapat lesen casting di Sabah.. sekarang nie aku nak mencari lesen popping lak kat sini...
di Kota Kinabalu nie aku tercari seseorang yg minat popping sehinggalah aku terjumpa dgn seorang tekong yg bukan sahaja minat popping tetapi juga beliau popping dgn popper hasil tgn beliau sendiri....
inilah popper pertama yang dihasilkan oleh anak beliau yang membawa kpd hasil kerja membuat popper hingga kini

Circle Fish Hooks versus O'Shaugnessy and Octopus Fish Hooks

There is so much hype about the relative efficiency of different fish hooks that it is hard to know which is fish hook best for the fisherman, or the fishery!

Paul's Fishing Kites has participated in large scale hook efficiency research over the last six years and has been involved in the setting of 60,000 hooks over several research projects to answer just that question.

The results make compelling reading as one hook type came out way ahead of the rest.

The the small portion of the extensive work reported on this page compares Octopus and O'Shaugnessy fish hook patterns (J shaped hooks) with Circle fish hooks.

It also tests whether tying or snelling the hook to the fishing line makes any difference to the catch rate and reports the observed incidence of gut hooking where fish have swallowed the hook. Only size 4/0 and 5/0 hooks were trialled.

Longlines were used to avoid any angler bias due to the different abilities and fishing styles of different fishers.

Each set of the longlines had circle hooks on half the traces (snoods).

The other half were a combination of Octopus and O'Shaugnessy hooks.

The graph above shows the circle hooks seriously out performed the popular J shaped hooks in all size classes of snapper.

The much higher catch of undersized fish on the circle hooks is of some concern

Bottom Session at Teluk Villa

Minggu lepas saya bersama jiran dan rakan memancing yg duduk didepan rumah telah secara mengejutnya mengambil keputusan untuk membottom di Teluk Villa...
ramai yg kata di situ tiada ikan... tp kami peduli haper... huhuhuhu...
so inilah hasil dr jam 8.30mlm hingga jam 11... boleh lah dr kosong...

Casting at Teluk Villa, Putatan Sabah

Since i have been transffered to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah at 16 october 2009, i have set in my mind to get a "license" in saltwater casting and popping... mostly in landbase casting and popping...
after 1 month in KK, i still not have it, not too easy to get a "license" here... not likes what i'm thinking before my family and i come to KK...
my fist license in casting was a baby GT or baby putih (local name) around 200g at Kg Tampi-Tampi Semporna, not KK...


my first "license" at Semporna... lures = Baby Cima

14th December 2009 (5.15pm), i go to Teluk Villa, around 200m from my house...
with eupro lure, silver blue... i cast and keep cast... suddenly i get a strike, with Abu Garcia Ultracast Rod and Shimano Aerlex 2000, mainline power pro 15lbs, i try too control the game coz there soo much rock structure, but the game is not mine... my lure is gone with the fish that i dont know the species...

after that i change my shock leader, and this time i'm use Yozuri Cristal Minnow Lure, one of my favourite lures... at second time cast, i get one more strike...
yeah at this time i will not give "u" chance baby... hahahaha...

Popping n Trolling
